Dora the Explorer Cake

Everything except Dora and Tico is edible. I made the house out of Rice Krispy Treats and fondant, the bridge is made from gumpaste that I put over a small can and allowed to dry, and the trees are sugar cones with royal icing piped on them. My favorite are the crocodiles in the river.

  1. Looks great! Love the crocs but the bridge might be my favorite. I like to decorate cakes, too. You might be interested in my post about an easy way to cover cakes in fondant.

  3. Love it!
I'm looking for inspiration for my little girl's birthday. She loves Dora.
How did you make the bridge?
    It's really cute!

  4. I made the bridge using gumpaste that I colored brown. I rolled it out then used a texture mat that looks like rocks to imprint the gumpaste. Then I cut out a rectangle and laid it over a small round can to dry. I let it dry for a couple of days before I went back and painted the darker brown into the texture with food coloring. Hope that helps!
