Baseball Birthday Cake

A neighbor/girl I've known since high school, asked me to make a baseball cake for her adorable little boy's second birthday. The ball was a lot trickier than I had hoped, but she liked it and I'm sure Levi did too.

1st Birthday Gifts

I have been babysitting a friend's baby a couple days a week for the past few months and she is about to have her first birthday. I made her these shirts as well as a stuffed bear, similar to this one only with different fabrics, to give to her at her party.

Beach Baby Shower

I threw a beach themed baby shower for one of my good friends last night. I thought the cake would be super easy. I made the surfboards and little flowers ahead of time. All I was going to have to do was bake, frost, and slap on the decorations. Unfortunately, the top layer was lemon with a lemon filling that was very slippery so I had a heck of a time layering and frosting the cake. The whole cake was leaning pretty bad by the time I was done, but it survived. I really had much highter expectations for this one, but everyone else seemed to think it was great so I guess I should be happy with it.

While the cake didn't turn out as cute as I had hoped, I loved the way the party decorations turned out. I made a bunch of them from scrapbook paper and tissue paper. I bought some others on clearance at Wal-Mart. Overall, I spent a relatively small amount on decorations and I am going to use them again next month for Hailey's birthday. I told her she has no choice on the theme.
I have several of these ugly folding chairs that I needed a quick fix for so I bought some beach towels from the dollar bin at Target, fused on some surfboard print fabric, and added a tie to each side to keep them in place.
This is how they turned out. And I can still use them as beach towels if I want to.

Here's the new mom with the blanket I made for her ADORABLE baby boy.

4th of July T-Shirts

I saw some really cute ideas online for 4th of July t-shirts and decided I was going to make them this year. Usually we just buy some cheap ones at Target or Old Navy. Hailey and Kennday's were very simple and I had them done in no time. I knew Payton and Taylor's would be a little more time consuming, but they ended up taking a lot longer than I had anticipated. However, I love the way they all turned and am glad that I accidentally bought the shirts way too big (I was expecting them to shrink up a bunch like most cheapy t-shirts do, but these things didn't shrink at all) so they can wear them for a year or too.

Hailey and Kennady's shirts are just made of cute gingham. They were so easy!!!
Payton and Taylor's shirts are made with ruffled grosgrain red and white ribbon, blue cotton, and really little white buttons. What a pain, but so cute!!!

Cupcake Mini Quilt

I bought the kit for this at one of the quilt shop hops that I did and I finally got around to making it. I hung it in my sewing room and it makes me happy!
