The cake is vanilla with strawberry buttercream that I colored dark purple to match the brides colors (plum, black, and ivory). The purple is a shade or two darker than I was trying for. I know that colors deepen as the icing sits and I quit adding color when it looked a shade or two lighter than I wanted, but it deepened more than I expected. Another lesson learned!
