Teacher Christmas gifts

Between my four girls, they have a total of 12 school teachers so I had to come up with something inexpensive and easy to make for them all.

For the girl teachers, I made homemade bath salts. They are super easy. You just mix 1 part Epsom salt with 1 part sea salt, add a few drops of essential oil to make it smell good, and put it in a jar. Then I attached an ornament and a tag and they were good to go.

For the boy teachers, I made an easy batch of homemade caramels. I had to taste test them first and they were super yummy. I found the recipe here.

Dr. Seuss Teacher Quilt

As an end of year “Thank You” gift for the twins’ kindergarten teacher, I decided to make her a quilt. Months ago, I went in during lunch time and traced all the kids’ hands without the teacher knowing. I used the tracings to make blocks that consist of each kids name and handprint. I used a Dr. Seuss font I found online to print the kids names on printable fabric. The rest of fabrics are all from the Celebrate Seuss! By Dr. Seuss Enterprises for Robert Kaufman Fabrics line of fabrics.

There are 19 kids in the class so I was one block short of being able to make a rectangle.  I wrote a poem and printed it on fabric to make the final block. It was the first poem that I have written in about 20 years. I attempted to make it Dr. Seuss-ish. The twins thought it was great, but they are 6, so please don’t judge me on my poor poetry skills.

I’m going to have the kids present it to her at Kindergarten graduation next Friday. I can’t believe the year is almost over. I’m more than ready for summer break, but sad that Kindergarten is just about over for my girls.

DIY Valentines

I found this great valentine bookmark and free printable card through Pinterest and thought it would be a fun idea to do with my  8-11 year old Activity Day girls from my church. Some girls had a little more difficulty stitching the hearts than others (I think the difficulties had more to do with listening to directions than it did to actually stitching) but they all had fun anyway. It’s a super quick and easy craft for a grown up to do so I stitched a bunch together for my girls to use as teacher gifts on Valentine’s Day.

Teacher Thank You Candy Pail

My twins are graduating from preschool this week. They have spent the past 3 years with Miss Lyn and they love her so much. This is what I made as a thank you gift for her.

We included all the candy mentioned in the note plus a gift card to show Miss Lyn how wonderful we think she is.

Teacher Appreciation Week

If you didn’t already know, this week is teacher appreciation week. We have lots of different teachers in our life and we appreciate them all a ton. Here are a few things I have made for some of my girls’ teachers this week:

Goody bags- I wrapped some Ghiradelli chocolates in fabric, tied it with some ribbon and  added the printable tag I downloaded from eighteen25, who has lots of fun teacher appreciation ideas, including the office supply caddy below.
